Special Access Arrangements

If you are entitled to any of the following special access arrangements you must apply for approval before you can book your test:

  • 50% extra time (UCATSEN50)
  • 5 minute rest breaks between sections (UCATSA or UCATSENSA)
  • Separate room
  • Access to medical items at your workstation not included on the comfort aid list

If you require any other accommodations please request these at the same time.

Special Access Arrangements applications open: 1 May 2019
Special Access Arrangements application deadline: 5pm on 18 September 2019.

You must apply at least 10 working days before you intend to test.  To make an application you must be registered and know your candidate ID (in the format UKCAT123456).

Applications for special access arrangements must be submitted with the correct supporting evidence:

If you are currently or very recently in education:

  • An official letter from your school, college or university that confirms you are entitled to extra time and/or specific access arrangements in public examinations. This letter should be recently dated and confirm on what basis this entitlement has been agreed, for example a diagnosis from a qualified medical practitioner or a report from an educational psychologist / specialist teacher.

or:

  • A post-16 report from an educational psychologist or appropriately qualified specialist teacher that explicitly recommends extra time and/or specific access arrangements in public examinations.

If you have been out of education for more than a year:

  • For a Specific Learning Difficulty, e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADH, dyscalculia and dysgraphia – a post-16 report from an educational psychologist or appropriately qualified specialist teacher that explicitly recommends extra time and/or specific access arrangements in public examinations.

  • For other circumstances – a recent letter (dated 2019) from a specialist or general practitioner that details your circumstances and makes a clear medical recommendation for extra time and/or specific access arrangements in public examinations.

You will be notified of the outcome by email within 5 working days.  You will then need to phone Pearson VUE Customer Services to book your test.

Note: this application process is only for special access arrangements.  If you are sitting the UCATSEN you also need to make a UCATSEN Application.

The form will be available from 1 May 2019.
