UCAT

The University Clinical Aptitude Test is used in the selection process by the majority of UK University Medical and Dental Schools.

Access Arrangements

We offer a range of access arrangements if you have special educational needs, disabilities or temporary injuries that entitle you to extra time or accommodations in public examinations.  Details of the extended tests we offer can be found here

This is likely to relate to candidates with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), for example: dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, dyscalculia and dysgraphia.  It may also apply to a range of other medical conditions.

All access arrangements need to be arranged at least 10 working days before your test day and some will require you to apply for approval before they can be put in place.  You need to register and have a candidate ID (in the format UKCAT123456) before you can apply.

Testing without access arrangements in place will not be accepted as a mitigating circumstance.

The following access arrangements are available for the UCAT:

25% extra time If you are eligible for 25% extra time in public exams you should sit the UCATSEN.  You need to provide the UCAT Office with evidence that you are eligible to sit this version of the test.  Click here to find out more and submit your evidence.
50% extra time If you are eligible for 50% extra time in public exams you should sit the UCATSEN50.  Click here for more details and to apply for approval.

  • A reader or computer reader
  • A paper version of the test
  • A scribe
  • Unlimited, ‘on request’ or ‘stop the clock’ breaks

Further assistance

If you do not think that your needs will be met by the access arrangements on offer, you should still register and make a request (open from 1 May 2019) and provide recent supporting evidence.  We will then advise you on your options.  We cannot deal with any requests after the deadline (5pm on 18 September 2019).
