Photo ID Requirements
You must present one piece of photographic identification from the list below which meets the requirements of the country where you are testing.
If you fail to do so you will not be allowed to test and you will have to book and pay for a new test slot on another day. This will be difficult towards the end of testing when the availability of test slots is extremely limited.
The name and date of birth on your ID must exactly match the name and date of birth you provided when you registered. If it does not you must contact Pearson VUE Customer Services at least 5 working days before your test appointment in order that this can be addressed.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
The only acceptable forms of identification are listed below and will depend on which country you are testing in. You must present the original ID (not a photocopy or digital ID) and it must be valid (unexpired).
Bus/train passes, library cards and student/employer ID cards will NOT be accepted under any circumstance.
An original, valid and signed passport that contains a recognisable photo will be accepted at ANY test centre.
A child passport will NOT be accepted without a signature or if it is signed by a parent. When presenting a signed child passport the photograph must be recent enough that you are easily identified from it.
A biometric type passport that has no space for a signature will ONLY be accepted if presented together with a valid bank card (with matching name and visible signature).
PHOTO-CARD DRIVER’S LICENCE
A government-issued original, valid and signed licence that contains a recognisable photo will ONLY be accepted at test centres in the country of issue. You may present a full or provisional licence. Regional differences are acceptable.
EU IDENTITY CARD or IRISH PASSPORT CARD
A government-issued original, valid and signed EU Identity card or Irish Passport Card that contains a recognisable photo will ONLY be accepted at a test centre in the EU.
The information on the card must be presented in Roman script as well as the original character set. For example a Greek identity card will have Greek and Roman characters to be permitted.
Alternative Form of Identification (UK Only)
If you are taking the test in the UK and cannot present one of the permitted forms of ID above, there is a fall-back solution. Please ask your school or college to attach your photograph to its headed notepaper and include the following text:
"This document is to confirm the identity of our student [insert your name], date of birth [insert your date of birth], whose signature appears below, endorsed with the official stamp of the school [that covers part of the photograph]."
Please refer to this Sample ID
The letter must be signed by a head teacher or a senior member of staff.
It must bear the school stamp, which should cover part of your photograph.
You must also sign this document.
The photograph used must be clear and you must be easily identified from it.
We take the security of the test very seriously, therefore test centre staff have no discretion to waive or vary these identification rules. If you are unsure whether your ID is acceptable please contact Pearson VUE Customer Services for advice.
If you are refused admission because you arrived with inadequate or invalid ID you will be recorded as a ‘no-show’ and will forfeit your appointment and test fee. You will then need to book and pay for another test. Please refer to the information on rescheduling and cancelling for further details.
