PREPARATION
PREPARATION
The UKCAT and SJTace are important tests. We know that candidates want to prepare properly. Please remember however that these are tests of aptitude rather than academic achievement. They do not draw on any particular body of knowledge that candidates can learn in advance.
Candidates should prepare for their relevant test using the free resources available on the UKCAT website www.ukcat.ac.uk/ukcat-test/ukcat-preparation/. This has been developed by the UKCAT Consortium to contain comprehensive information and practice materials to support your preparation, including official Practice Tests and Questions.
We regularly survey our candidates about how they prepare for the test and compare this against the scores they achieved. Some of the advice below draws on the outcomes from this analysis and covers the full UKCAT test. SJTace candidates are advised to use all practice materials available in this guide and on the UKCAT website, but need only focus on the SJT sub-test and disregard the remaining 4 sub-tests.
How should I prepare?
• Familiarise yourself with the requirements and question styles in each subtest. Use the Official Guide, Practice App, Question Tutorial and FREE Practice Questions on the UKCAT website to help you
• Use the Tour Tutorial to familiarise yourself with the onscreen test format, learn how to move around the screen and through the test and to use the calculator provided
