Teacher and Adviser Resources
When should I talk to my students about the UCAT?
Students need to sit the test over the summer period before the UCAS application deadline of 16 October 2023 (for students entering university in September 2024).
We therefore recommend schools and colleges inform students, who may be considering applying to Medicine or Dentistry, before the end of Year 12 (UK) or S5 (Scotland) so that they have sufficient time to prepare for and sit the test before returning to school in September (Year 13 UK, S6 Scotland) and can then focus on their UCAS applications.
What materials are available to help with this?
Schools and colleges can use our UCAT 2023 UCAT Overview Presentation for advising prospective candidates about the 2023 UCAT or for running a UCAT overview session at their own institution. This can be downloaded as a PowerPoint slideshow for you to deliver, or is also available as video with voiceover.
A leaflet and poster are also provided below, and we would encourage you to print off and display a poster in your libraries or sixth form common areas, as appropriate.
You can also direct your students or their parents to the UCAT 2023 Official Guide which covers everything they need to know about sitting the test this year.
Finally we have a handy UCAT 2023 step-by-step guide which students can print off as a reminder of all the important steps in completing their UCAT journey.
