Register and Book

Registration for the 2021 UCAT closed on 22 September 2021 at 12 noon (BST) and booking closed on 28 September at 12 noon (BST).  We do not make exceptions to these deadlines.

We expect the vast majority of candidates to sit their UCAT in a Pearson VUE test centre.   Our Test Centre Locator shows the test centres which are authorised to deliver the UCAT in 2021.  Further information about the arrangements for sitting the UCAT in 2021 can be found here.

Please follow these steps if you are sitting the test in 2021:

Step 1 Register for the UCAT 2021

Candidates can register (create a web account) between 2 June – 22 September 2021.  If you do not register (create an account) by the deadline you will not be able to sit the UCAT 2021.  We do not make exceptions to this deadline.

  • Outside the registration period you will see this message "The feature that you are trying to access is blocked. Please try again later."

  • Please register for your test personally – this cannot be done by a school/college.

  • You may only create one account. If you have tested previously please use your existing account.  You do not need to register (create an account) again in 2021.

  • Register with your legal name exactly as it appears on the photo ID you intend to present when your test.  If there is not an exact match, you may be unable to test and lose your test fee.  Please ensure that when you register with UCAS your name is also the same, so that your results can be matched to your application. Changes to the name on your UCAT account can be made by Pearson VUE Customer Services after seeing supporting ID.

  • During registration you will need to provide the information requested in this questionnaire.

  • Once you have successfully completed the registration process you will be able to sign in to your web account using the username and password you set up during registration.  You are now ready to book your test (from 28 June).  An email from Pearson VUE containing your username should arrive to confirm your web account has been created.  This email is for your records; you do not need to wait for it to arrive to login to your account.

  • On occasion, accounts cannot be created until they are validated by the Account Processing team.  In this case, you will not be able to create a username and password.  An onscreen message will inform you that your account is not yet complete.  You will then receive an email from Pearson VUE, usually within one business day, with additional instructions.  If this email has not arrived after 36 hours (and is not in your junk/spam folder) please contact Pearson VUE Customer Services.

  • You are assigned a candidate ID (in the format UKCAT123456) after successfully registering.  You can find your candidate ID in the left corner of your account.  It should be used in all correspondence with Pearson VUE and the UCAT Office.

Step 2 Apply for a Bursary or Access Arrangements (if applicable)

  • UK candidates in financial need can apply for a UCAT Bursary to cover the full test fee.  Once your Bursary Application is approved you will be given a voucher code to use when booking your test.

  • Candidates with special educational needs, disabilities or medical conditions who require Access Arrangements to sit the test must apply and be approved for these before booking their test.

  • Dates and deadlines for both of these schemes are given on our Key Dates page.

Step 3 Booking the UCAT

Once booking opens on 28 June you may book your test either through your web account or by calling Pearson VUE Customer ServicesThe UCAT can be sat (subject to availability) between 26 July - 29 September 2021 at one of our Pearson VUE test centres.

Our Test Centre Locator shows the test centres which are authorised to deliver the UCAT in 2021 but does not show availability of test slots.  The easiest way for you to check test centre availability is by following the steps to book a test through your web account once booking opens on 28 June.  You cannot check this prior to 28 June as we operate a live booking system and availability may change between now and the test cycle opening.

Once you have scheduled your test, you will be sent a confirmation email that includes important details about your appointment.  Please keep this email safe.

Please note:

  • It is your responsibility to book the correct version of the test. You should book the standard UCAT unless you are eligible for extra time in public exams.  You must apply for approval (see access arrangements) to sit the UCATSEN, UCATSA, UCATSENSA or UCATSEN50 before you book a test.

  • If you book a test then need to change your appointment because you have been approved to sit a different version of the test (e.g. you book a UCAT and are then approved to sit the UCATSEN) you will need to cancel your existing booking.  Your test fee will be refunded and you will need to go through the payment process again to book the version of the test you are entitled to sit.  This is because the booking system cannot make changes to an existing booking (e.g. extend the length of the appointment).  You should note that we operate a live booking system and it is unlikely you will be given the same appointment.   The date, time and location of your test may all need to change depending on availability at the time.

  • You may only take the test once in any test cycle.  Any instances of multiple testing in the same year will be treated as misconduct and all results withdrawn.

The test fee is payable at the time of booking by major debit/credit card or UCAT bursary voucher.

  • Tests taken in the UK: £75

  • Tests taken outside the UK: £120

Registration and web booking closes at 12 noon BST on 22 September; we expect all candidates to have booked their test by this date.

After web booking closes registered candidates may phone Pearson VUE Customer Services (+44 (0)208 616 5106) to book, cancel or reschedule a test up to the booking deadline (28 September).  However the availability of appointments will be extremely limited in the last weeks of testing and it is possible that Customer Services will not be able to find a convenient appointment.  It is not possible to book a test by email.
