UCATSEN Application Form

If you are entitled to 25% extra time in public exams you should sit the UCATSEN.  In 2019 you must apply for approval to sit this version of the test.

UCATSEN applications open: 1 May 2019
UCATSEN application deadline: 5pm on 18 September 2019.

You must apply at least 5 working days before you intend to test.  To make an application you must be registered and know your candidate ID (in the format UKCAT123456).

Applications must be submitted with the correct supporting evidence:

If you are currently or very recently in education:

  • We require an official letter (on headed paper and signed) from your school, college or university that confirms you are entitled to 25% extra time in public examinations. This letter should be recently dated and confirm on what basis this entitlement has been agreed, for example a diagnosis from a qualified medical practitioner or a report from an educational psychologist / specialist teacher.

If you cannot provide a letter we are also willing to consider a report from an educational psychologist or appropriately qualified specialist teacher if it explicitly recommends 25% extra time in public examinations.

If you have been out of education for more than a year:

  • For a Specific Learning Difficulty, e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, dyscalculia and dysgraphia: a report from an educational psychologist or appropriately qualified specialist teacher that explicitly recommends 25% extra time in public examinations.

  • For other circumstances: a recent letter (dated 2019) from a specialist (e.g. a consultant, psychologist or psychiatrist) that details your circumstances and makes a clear medical recommendation for extra time in public examinations.

You will be notified of the outcome by email within 5 working days.  The UCATSEN is available to book through your web account or by calling Pearson VUE Customer ServicesYou may book a test in advance of your eligibility being approved but we recommend you wait for confirmation before sitting your test.

If you have not been granted approval to sit the UCATSEN by the deadline your chosen Universities will be told that we cannot confirm your entitlement to extra time in public examinations and they may reject your application.

Note: this application process is only for the UCATSEN (25% extra time).  If you are entitled to test in a separate room or need access to medical items you also need to make a Special Access Arrangements Application.  If you are entitled to 25% extra time and rest breaks you only need to make a Special Access Arrangements Application to sit the UCATSENSA.
